EXPERIENCE
Mr. Mahmood is a former Deputy Attorney General in the Division of Criminal Justice with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General. As a Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Mahmood represented the State in complex criminal cases ranging from auto theft trafficking networks to racketeering enterprises. He received the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Litigation following a weeks-long Frye hearing where he directed and cross-examined expert witnesses in various scientific disciplines including biostatistics.
He also received the Division of Criminal Justice Director’s Award for Excellence in Investigation for the successful prosecution of Genovese crime family members as part of a racketeering indictment.
EDUCATION
Mr. Mahmood received his bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh and his J.D. from the Rutgers School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and served as the lead state constitutional law editor of the Rutgers Law Journal.
